Electrical Engineer - Renewables Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical takeoffs and quoting.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. Electrical Takeoffs & Quoting
- Perform detailed electrical takeoffs from construction drawings, specs, and schematics.
- Generate accurate quotes for electrical systems including materials, labor, and integration costs.
- Prepare bills of materials (BOM) and coordinate with vendors for pricing and lead times.
- 2. Engineering & Technical Design
- Interpret and apply electrical engineering standards to project-specific requirements.
- Assist in reviewing and validating system designs for code compliance (NEC, NFPA 70E, UL508A, etc.).
- Size and specify electrical components including conductors, conduit, breakers, and control panels.
- 3. Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with the design, procurement, and fabrication teams to ensure scope alignment and design feasibility.
- Engage with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver timely estimates.
- Support proposal and bid package development by providing technical input and cost breakdowns.
- 4. Software & Documentation
- Utilize software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, Accubid, or Trimble for takeoffs and design interpretation.
- Create and manage project documentation including estimate summaries, technical datasheets, and quoting logs.
- Maintain and update records through Acumatica CRM and internal project tracking tools.
- 5. Field & Practical Insight
- Participate in on-site evaluations or pre-construction walkthroughs as needed.
- Leverage field experience to improve accuracy and realism in estimates and engineering assumptions.
- 6. Continuous Improvement
- Stay up to date with electrical technologies, integration practices, and cost trends.
- Proactively identify ways to improve estimation accuracy and efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, integration, or design.
- Proficient with estimating tools, AutoCAD, Excel, and project management software.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and industrial system design.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple timelines and shifting priorities.
- Ongoing travel to Colorado and South Carolina facilities.
- Participation in national trade shows and training as required.
