Position Overview
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key leader responsible for overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, resident-centered care. The ideal candidate is an experienced and compassionate registered nurse with strong clinical knowledge, leadership abilities, and administrative expertise.
This role requires a dedicated professional who can inspire and support nursing staff, drive quality initiatives, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of excellence throughout the facility.
What You’ll Do
Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all nursing personnel, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and nursing support staff
Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing department goals, objectives, and long-term strategies
Oversee staffing processes to ensure appropriate coverage and quality resident care
Coordinate nursing operations, admissions, and resident care procedures
Establish and maintain policies and procedures that promote regulatory compliance and high-quality care standards
Monitor department performance, budgets, and resource utilization
Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions to address challenges and deficiencies
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical and operational requirements
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and facility leadership to improve resident outcomes and overall operations
Serve as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for nursing staff
Communicate effectively with leadership regarding nursing department performance and initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience as a Director of Nursing or nursing leadership role within a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
Active nursing license in good standing
Current CPR certification
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and best practices
Experience with nursing operations, staffing, quality improvement, and regulatory readiness
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to mentor, motivate, and develop nursing teams
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
