What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Superintendent position at Linde Gas US?
Position Overview:
The Plant Superintendent leads the overall operations for the Liquid Carbon Dioxide Plant. This position has the primary accountability for ensuring the safety performance of all personnel on this site.
Essential Functions:
- Safety – Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Act as an operational discipline leader through example and action. Partner with the SH&E organization to exceed all safety and environmental compliance goals.
- Regulatory Compliance – Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal laws and regulations, and Linde policies and procedures regarding permitting, product quality requirements, health and safety, and environmental concerns as defined in SOP, SMP, Alerts, ISA, QA, permits, and other compliance documents.
- Quality Assurance – Ensure compliance with all quality assurance requirements (including Linde policy, CGMPs for food ingredient products, and ISO requirements). Train team members on the requirements and monitor for compliance.
- Reliability of Supply – Manage and achieve plant and product supply reliability goals and enforce use of the EAM system by plant personnel.
- Cost to Supply – Manage and achieve plant fixed and variable cost goals. Team with operators, Central Optimization Center, Cost Reduction Engineers, and Six Sigma organization to exceed productivity and cost reduction goals.
- People Management – People Management – Train, coach, and administer corrective action of subordinate employees. Develop team members to increase the strength of the operations team.
- Maintenance Planning – Work with reliability center to plan and execute planned and unplanned maintenance turnarounds on plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Key Competencies include: Timely Decision-Making, Conflict Management, Developing People and Leadership-Operational Discipline.
- Be able to work across organization lines to achieve results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience and production experience in a leadership role Required.
- 2 years Management experience - Preferred
- 3 years Operations experience preferred
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities, drive issues to completion, and obtain results.
- Excellent communication, team interaction and presentation skills.
- Self-starter, who is comfortable working independently, effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with computers and standard software packages (MS Office, E-Mail etc.).
- Must have a positive attitude, be willing to quickly adapt to changing situations, have strong communications skills, and a strong willingness to build and maintain productive relationships across departmental lines.

- Able to travel outside the local area 10% of the time.
