Senior Chemist

Location: Cherokee, AL

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. is seeking a Sr. Chemist to join our team located in Cherokee, AL. The Senior Chemist is to oversee the analytical equipment for the Cherokee facility. The Senior Chemist is to leverage their experience to develop better analytical methods, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation, and integrate any new analytical requirements into the facility.

Responsibilities

• Thorough observation of work area(s) is alert to and avoid unsafe behaviors and conditions or other hazards. Reports any observed hazards to supervisor. Strictly adheres to all safety policies including, but not limited to HWP, ECP, and LOTO policies.
• Participate in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives of analytical process systems.
• Operate required analytical instrumentation GC’s, FTIR’s, ICP-MS, process analyzers, standard blenders, etc.
• Recognize problems with analytical instrumentation and troubleshoot/assist in subsequent repairs.
• Maintaining laboratory instruments, troubleshooting malfunctions, and purchasing new laboratory supplies.
• Writing technical papers and reports, and preparing standards and specifications for processes, tests, and products.
• Experience with SPC/SQC, or other statistical methods of quality measurement and Measurement Systems Analysis techniques, GRR, MDL, IDL .
• Assist in developing new products in conjunction with R&D Department.
• Recommend new procedures and new equipment.
• Keep up to date on new methods and new instrumentation related to all analyses.
• Cross train into all other lab activities and assist cross training of Lab Technicians
• Conforms to ISO 9001:2015 directives included but not limited to policy and procedures. Strictly adhere to all necessary calibration requirements within all lab operations.

Requirements

• Must have a BS/BA degree in science (Chemistry preferred)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory or 4 years of direct experience working in a gas analytical lab
• ICP-MS experience preferred
• LIMS experience helpful
