The Paralegal will assist family law attorneys by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking; and trial preparation.
_ Paralegal Tasks_
- Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Anticipates the needs of the department and oversees case progress proactively.
- Performs billable work as directed by the attorney(s).
- Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
- Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
- Assures paper files are immediately uploaded into the electronic system.
- Assists attorneys with trial preparation.
- Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
- Performs administrative support tasks including but not limited to entering, auditing, and managing billable hours for attorney(s).
- Assures that all records, correspondence, and supporting materials are stored, catalogued, and accessible in the electronic system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc), online case filing and management tools, iManage, and other applicable legal applications.
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience
Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies and / or Paralegal Certification is required. An abundance of recent experience and demonstrated expertise in this specific area might be considered in lieu of certification and / or degree. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Two years of matrimonial experience required.
This role is 100% on site in our New Providence, NJ office.

Pay: $35.00 - $41.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 35 per week
