Lind Marine is seeking a mid-level industrial painter for our shipyard located in Vallejo, Ca. The right candidate should have experience with commercial blast pots for grit blasting, airless sprayers for industrial coatings, and experience operating aerial lifts.
Job Description:
Painters are to provide general labor safely and efficiently on tugs, barges, and other equipment within the shipyard and on various vessels. The Painter is responsible for preparing, applying, and maintaining coatings and sealers to vessels and equipment, along with the general upkeep and maintenance of prepping and coating equipment. They will perform various preparatory and coating procedures on various materials and surfaces as required for each specific application. Painters will retain an understanding of safe handling and procedures of all materials and equipment and additionally be able to inspect, correct, or notify other crew members of any condition which affects the safety of the team, cargo, or equipment. Painters must be able to take direction and obey all environmental, governmental, and safety regulations. Painters must be physically fit for duty and able to lift up to 50 lbs. Painters must also exhibit strong sense of safety, teamwork, and ability to work safely in stressful environments.
- Performs surface prep and applies primers, enamels, and epoxies with minimal supervision.
- Can properly mask, mix, and apply coatings to meet mil thickness and finish requirements.
- Understands and follows paint data sheets (PDS) and technical specifications.
- Performs quality checks for coverage, cleanliness, and adhesion.
- Begins working on larger components or simple hull structures.
- May train new hires or act as a lead on small tasks.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds safely and unassisted and work outdoors in all season weather
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Ability to work independently
- Able to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to function well as a part of a team
- Candidates with forklift certification preferred

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $26 to $33 per hour. These figures represent what Lind Marine reasonably expect to pay for this position, but actual compensation offered will depend on numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, location, education, and market data. Lind Marine reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
