Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Custodian. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the safety and cleanliness of our classrooms, restrooms, hallways, administrative offices, gyms, auditoriums, and other areas inside and outside each school.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Dust, sweep, and/or mop floors as necessary.
- Wash windows as needed and clean window sills.
- Care for and clean the grounds.
- Scrub, or strip, and wax floors as scheduled.
- Clean and sanitize restroom fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, partitions, floors, etc. Replace restroom supplies as needed. This includes locker rooms.
- Set up tables, chairs, etc., for school meetings, games, dances, and any other events.
- Report any damage to school property and report maintenance needs.
- Replace light bulbs as needed.
- Follow schedule and do things as they appear on it.
- Load and unload supplies and equipment.
- Assist in any maintenance work that is needed.
- Do any minor repair work that is needed.
- Sweep exterior walkways.
- Relieve, assist, or fill in temporarily on other jobs as assigned by the supervisor.
- Know location and proper care and use of all fire fighting equipment.
- Responsible for the security of the classrooms and buildings. Check that all students are out of the buildings, lights are off, windows and doors are locked, and rooms and buildings are checked for fire hazards.
- Work on maintenance during summer months.
- Report any trouble or problems relating to the heating or cooling system immediately.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
- Reliable and punctual with excellent communication skills.
