Dietary Aide

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Lincoln Village Healthcare Center, Lincoln, IL
PAY: $15.00 per hour
HOURS: 2:00PM-8:00PM, every other weekend
What We Are Looking For:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation, serving, and delivery of meals to residents while maintaining a clean and sanitary dining environment. This role supports the nutritional well-being of residents by ensuring meals are served according to dietary guidelines, physician orders and resident preferences.
What You Will Do:
Meal Service
Assist with meal setup and delivery in the dining room and to resident rooms as needed.
Serve meals and beverages according to portion control standards and dietary restrictions.
Assist residents with opening containers, cutting food, or other needs during mealtimes.
Clear tables and remove dishes promptly after meals.
Food Preparation Support
Assist cooks with basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, or portioning foods.
Prepare snacks and special diet items as assigned.
Follow all instructions regarding therapeutic and modified diets.
Sanitation & Safety
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment following proper procedures.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and food service equipment.
Follow infection control, sanitation, and safety guidelines at all times.
Store food and supplies properly to maintain freshness and safety.
Resident Interaction & Support
Provide friendly and respectful service to residents during meals.
Observe and report changes in residents’ food or fluid intake to nursing staff.
Support residents’ dignity, independence, and satisfaction during dining experiences.
What You Will Bring:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous dietary or food service experience preferred, especially in healthcare or senior living.
Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
Knowledge of safe food handling practices preferred.
Compassion and patience when working with elderly and disabled individuals.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Frequent standing, bending, and reaching.
Ability to tolerate heat, steam, and humidity from kitchen equipment.
Work Environment:
The Dietary Aide works primarily in the kitchen and dining areas, with frequent interaction with residents and staff. The role involves exposure to cleaning agents, hot surfaces, and potential infectious agents.
