PURPOSE:
The Education Compliance and Assessment Coordinator works with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to facilitate the use of assessment systems in the School of Education; to ensure compliance and alignment with state and federal requirements; to write accreditation reports and secure continued specialized accreditation; to analyze data for continuous improvement of multiple educator preparation programs; to inventory, evaluate, and create assessment instruments; and to design reports and otherwise disseminate data to internal and external parties. The Education Compliance and Assessment Coordinator is a 12-month faculty position with a 0.50 teaching load per semester (Fall/Spring) for education majors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with students, faculty, staff, and cooperating teachers to facilitate the use of assessment systems in the School of Education.
  • Works with program directors, the department chair, and faculty to create templates, rubrics, surveys, and forms that are aligned with the standards of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (DHEWD) and to provide data for annual reports to accrediting bodies, such as DESE, the Title II Federal Reporting system, national education accreditation agencies, the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), and the Missouri Association for Colleges for Teacher Education (MACTE).
  • Analyzes student performance compared to state and national standards by interpreting quantitative and qualitative information gathered using external assessment tools (such as the Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement, the National Survey of Student engagement, ACT exams, certifications, and standardized exams) and internal sources of data (such as departmental assessments, local exams, math and English placement exams, portfolios, employment information, exit surveys, and alumni surveys).
  • Assists with the administration of a variety of assessments including external assessments such as the Missouri Educator Evaluation System and the National Survey of Student Engagement.
  • Inventories assessment information and instruments used at the University for the purpose of external accreditation.
  • Designs, writes, and edits annual assessment reports and disseminates data to faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Provides information to support program review and accreditation needs in colleges and academic and co-curricular departments.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaches a minimum of 6 hours per Fall/Spring semester in the area of education (elementary, special ed, K-12, and/or secondary education).
  • Serves as the University's Certification Officer in compliance with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
  • Attends monthly virtual DESE webinars.
  • Attends conferences/professional development with accrediting agencies (AAQEP/DESE/HLC).
  • Attends monthly departmental, college, and teacher education council meetings.
  • Attends University events such as Honors Convocation, Commencement, and other campus activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • For non-tenure track, a master's degree is required, preferably in the field of education. An emphasis or experience in experimental methods or statistics is preferred.
  • For tenure-track, a PhD or EdD (or ABD), is required, in the field of education.
  • An emphasis or experience in experimental methods or statistics is preferred.
  • Assistant or Associate rank based on experience.
  • Missouri certification (or the ability to obtain Missouri certification) in an educational field (elementary, special education, K-12, or middle/secondary areas).
  • Experience in teaching in the K-12 setting required, experience in teaching in higher education preferred.
  • Knowledge of Missouri Teaching Standards (MTS), Missouri Standards for the Preparation of Educators (MoSPE), and Missouri Educator Evaluation System (MEES) preferred.
  • One year of experience in an applied research, data management, or data analysis environment is preferred.
  • Significant experience with data management and analysis software and familiarity with SPSS or similar data assessment instruments are preferred.
  • Experience in an applied higher education field is preferred.
  • Experience with survey construction and administration software such as SurveyMonkey or lnquisit is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

  • Proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Proficiency in various data analyses techniques, including descriptive statistics, group differences, repeated measures, correlations, regressions, and modeling as well as in interpreting results of the analysis is required.
  • Attention to details, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information in oral, written, and graphic form to individuals with varying backgrounds, are required.
  • The ability to reason analytically, proficiency in producing meaningful technical reports, the ability to successfully manage multiple short- and long-term projects, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are required.
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
  • Occasional out of town travel may be required.
  • The scope of the job may require some evening and weekend work to complete assessment projects, participate in workshops, seminars, training, and professional development.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Teaching Certification (Missouri preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Routine classroom teaching demands.
  • Ability to drive/travel for conferences.
