PURPOSE:

The Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Community Standards serve as a key administrative leader within the Division of Student Affairs and plays a vital role in fostering a safe, respectful, and educational campus environment. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Student Conduct & Community Standards the Assistant Director provides direct support in the administration, coordination, and enhancement of the University's student conduct system. This position works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to address behavioral concerns, promote accountability, and support student development both on and off campus.

The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and delivering educational outreach, training programs, and conduct procedures that promote student understanding of their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the Code of Student Conduct. This position also plays an essential role in supporting equity, inclusion, and access for a diverse student population, utilizing trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches in all student interactions. Through data-informed decision-making, strategic partnerships, and a strong commitment to restorative  practices, the Assistant Director supports the university's mission to foster a community grounded in integrity, accountability, and student success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Receives, investigates, and monitors bias incident reports involving students; engages in
    developmentally focused conversations to resolve issues.
  • Provides strategic direction and oversight for student conduct and student code of conduct policies, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and compliance requirements.
  • Trains and monitors campus judicial officers using a distributive conduct model; recruits, trains, and advises hearing boards.
  • Oversees Project Success.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to assess and implement educational programming addressing alcohol and drug use, sexual misconduct, interpersonal conflict, and safety education.
  • Educates students on rights and responsibilities through active and passive educational programming.
  • Serve as a point of contact for current and potential students, parents, and other university administrators regarding the Code of Conduct, the SCCS office, and related services.
  • Assist the Assistant Dean in developing and facilitating training for the Disciplinary Hearing Board each semester.
  • Assist with administrative support of the office such as coordinating and preparing for disciplinary hearings, sending decision letters, and scheduling hearings.
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications team to create and enhance publications, brochures, manuals, and other resource materials regarding the office.
  • With guidance from the Assistant Dean, lead assessment efforts for the office as well as maintain detailed statistical data for monthly and yearly reports and Clery data.
  • Oversee programming and prevention initiatives surrounding community standards, the Code of Conduct, and other student behavioral trends. Lead the development and implementation of SCCS programs and workshops in collaboration with Housing and Residential Education.
  • Participate in regular training for Student Conduct, Title IX, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Serves as a resource to campus partners (e.g., residence life, wellness, academic programs) in planning and implementing student-focused initiatives.
  • Provides frequent, data-driven reports on departmental progress to campus and community stakeholders.
  • Aligns departmental strategy with university-wide initiatives and fosters collaboration with academic and administrative partners.
  • Adapts leadership strategies based on emerging data and facilitates unified movement toward new directions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience and ability to manage budgets.
  • Experience in student conduct and an awareness of emerging issues in higher education, residence life and housing, community building, and student learning.
  • Proven competence in leadership and supervision of students and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

  • Thorough knowledge of Maxient, StarRez software, Adobe Suite and proficient in using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of Title IX, Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Clery Act, Drug-Free
    Schools and Community Act (DFSCA), and Office of Civil Rights compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, develop communication strategies and work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with high accuracy.
  • A high degree of organization, ability to engage in various tasks simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential University information.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a full-time, 12-month, position.
  • Occasional Evening and weekend.

Salary : $40,000 - $45,000
