Full job description
A Mill/Turn CNC Programmer will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Mazak Mill/Turn CNC machinery to manufacture precision parts and components for Aerospace, Defense and Medical Industries in accordance with AS-9100 standards. This role requires a strong technical background in programming with the hands-on ability to set up and operate a variety of jobs while ensuring high quality and efficient workflow is being performed.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and make edits to CNC programs using Mastercam software.
- Set up and operate CNC Mill/Turn machining centers, including tooling, fixturing, and work offsets.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings to determine machining operations, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Work with Quality department to ensure CNC programs are accurate in producing high quality parts and making programs and tooling adjustments as needed.
- Ability to critical dimensions in-process of machining to ensure parts stay with in specifications/tolerance. Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micro heights and micrometers. (Experience with Zeiss CMM a plus but not required)
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining or programming issues to maintain production flow.
- Maintain CNC programs, fixtures and tooling lists for future use.
- Perform simple machine maintenance such as monitoring coolant and machine oil levels.
- Ability to keep work area safe and clean.
- Must be able to work in team environment of a Job shop serving a variety of industries.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with CNC programming on Mill/Turn machines. Mastercam and Mazatrol preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school or apprenticeship in CNC machining preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in CAD/CAM programming software (Mastercam preferred).
- Strong understanding of G-code, M-code, and machine control systems for Mazak.
- Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot Mazak Integrex’s Including Mazak I-150, Mazak I-350 and Mazak J-200
- Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Be able to work in a typical shop environment with noises, oils and coolants. Temperature controlled Facility
Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full-Time hourly position required to work Monday through Friday, with potential overtime allowed.
