Lincoln School, founded in 1884, is an independent K-12 Quaker girls’ school in Providence, Rhode Island. Lincoln School seeks two capable, welcoming, and professional part-time receptionists to serve as the first point of contact for students, families, visitors, and employees. Representing the School in a polished, enthusiastic, and friendly manner at all times, the receptionist will greet guests, answer phones, and provide general administrative and clerical support as outlined below. Each receptionist will work a consistent part-time shift as part of a job-share model designed to ensure reliable front desk coverage.

Job Share Logistics: The front desk is staffed Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the school year. Each receptionist works approximately 25 hours per week.

Typical shifts are:

  • Morning Shift: 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
  • Afternoon Shift: 12:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

During school vacation weeks and summer months, front desk hours are typically reduced to 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., and individual schedules may be adjusted accordingly.

Absence & Coverage Policy: This job-share model is designed to provide continuity and reliable coverage. When one receptionist has a planned absence or unexpected illness, the job-share partner will be asked, when available, to extend their hours and assist with coverage.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • This position requires the ability to sit or stand at the front desk for extended periods while using a computer and phone system throughout the day
  • The ability to occasionally lift or move light packages or office materials is necessary
  • Greet individuals entering the building (visitors, parents, students, vendors)
  • Answer, screen, and forward phone calls while providing basic information as needed
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and deliveries
  • Maintain a tidy reception area
  • Support campus safety and security by following established procedures for logging visitors, verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, managing student sign-in/sign-out, and reporting unusual or suspicious activity
  • Maintain attendance records for Middle and Upper School students
  • Perform clerical duties as needed (faxes, mailings, data entry, etc.)
  • Participate in required professional development or training
  • Other clerical support duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of proven work experience as a receptionist, front office representative, or similar role
  • Experience working in schools is preferred
  • Operational knowledge of general office machines and telephone systems
  • Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in utilizing computer software, such as the Google Suite or the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
