Role Summary:
We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing to help lead the medical care for clients receiving treatment at Lincoln Recovery. This role supports individuals experiencing substance use, mental health, or co-occurring challenges, and plays a vital part in ensuring they receive safe, respectful, and effective care.
As the ADON, you'll provide leadership and support to our nursing staff, oversee day-to-day medical operations, and help maintain a calm, structured environment for healing. You'll also work directly with clients, provide hands-on clinical care when needed, and collaborate closely with the full treatment team to support each individual's recovery journey.

Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, provide oversight and guidance to RNs and LPNs caring for clients with substance use, mental health, or co-occurring needs.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all nursing activities in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards.
- Participate in treatment planning and discharge coordination for clients across all levels of care.
- Administer medications and educate clients on prescribed treatments, including those related to mental health and substance use recovery.
- Maintain open communication with providers and clinical staff to ensure coordinated, whole-person care.
- Supervise medical groups and assist with onboarding and ongoing training of nursing staff.
- Monitor and complete COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale) and CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment) assessments to support safe and effective detox and withdrawal management.
- Monitor medical inventory and ensure necessary supplies and equipment are stocked and available.
- Coordinate schedules for providers, lab services, and other medical support functions.
- Maintain the nursing staff schedule and provide coverage for shifts as needed.
- Support compliance with all facility policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies and take appropriate action based on client needs.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff during client crises and assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure client needs, concerns, and safety are addressed.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.
- Lead nursing meetings to support clinical education, scope-of-practice awareness, and team updates.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, clinical discussions, and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing to support overall operations of the nursing department.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a residential treatment facility, substance use program, mental health setting, or co-occurring care environment, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges in client care and facility operations.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience, particularly in overseeing direct care or nursing staff, with the ability to train, support, and evaluate team performance effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and build positive rapport with both staff and clients.
- Preferred candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively, manage time well, problem-solve under pressure, and maintain strong professional boundaries.
- Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for religious, ethnic, and individual differences.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid Registered Nursing License (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Illinois
- Valid Driver's License
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain.
- Must successfully complete Background Check, Drug Screen, and TB Test
