What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Maintenance Technician position at Lincoln Public Schools?
1. Perform and oversee maintenance of school facilities including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building systems.
2. Respond promptly to work orders, emergency repairs, and routine service requests.
3.Lead and train facilities team members; assign tasks and monitor completion.
4. Track work orders and maintain maintenance logs.
5. Ensure all systems (lighting, heating, cooling, fire alarms, sprinklers, security) are inspected and in working order.
6. Develop, implement and monitor a preventative maintenance schedule for all buildings, grounds, and equipment.
7. Ensure adequate daily coverage for the cleaning and operation of school facilities by coordinating staff assignments and securing approval from the Director of Facilities, Security, & Transportation or designee.
8. Provide mentorship, safety training and technical guidance to facilities team members
9. Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, state and local codes/regulations.
10. Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, tools, and equipment.
11. Participate in School Safety Committee.
12. Oversee upkeep of school grounds including landscaping and snow removal.
13. Monitor building security: e.g. alarm calls, broken windows, etc.
14. Support facilities team as needed during absences, large-scale projects, events or emergencies.
15. Communicate effectively with central office administrators, school leadership, teachers and staff regrading facility needs and project updates.
16. Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and/or projects.
17. Other realted duties as may be assigned by Director of Facilities, Security & Transportation or designee.
