What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified, Student Support Program General Education High School Teacher position at Lincoln Public Schools?
The high school SSP General Education Teacher is responsible for providing a structured school environment for LPS students in grades 9-12 who have been expelled, suspended or placed in the program for transition back to a regular school setting.
Responsibilities may include the following:
- Planning, organizing and assisting students with APEX high school classes for a variety of subjects including math, health, social studies, science, reading and English.
- Maintaining a structured learning environment which includes supervision before and after the school day and handling due process as needed for the middle and high school students who are housed at the same location.
- Meeting with students and parents for program intake meetings.
- Maintaining accurate academic and behavioral records, which will include communicating with building and district staff, parents and other agencies working with students in the program.
- Supervision of students and staff.
This position requires a self-motivated person skilled in conflict prevention and conflict management strategies. Previous experience working with academically and behaviorally challenged high school students and their parents is preferred. Secondary teaching endorsement is required.
The Student Support Program is located at 1801 S. 40th Street.
This position is subject to a veterans preference.
