Design/Solutions Engineering Director

Lincoln’s Data Center Group is seeking a highly technical and customer focused Solutions Engineering leader to support client solution development, technical delivery, and deployment of data center infrastructure.
This role serves as the technical interface between customers, leasing teams, development, design & construction and facility operations translating customer requirements into scalable data center solutions and ensuring successful delivery from concept through operations. The position will guide customers through site selection, solution design, deployment planning, and operational integration.
In addition to supporting customer solutions, this role will help evaluate new investment opportunities, oversee data center deployments, and collaborate with technical operations teams to ensure performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities:
Customer Solutions & Technical Delivery
Serve as the primary technical interface with hyperscale and enterprise customers, defining infrastructure, operational, and deployment requirements
Translate customer requirements into scalable data center solutions across power, cooling, space, and network infrastructure
Lead technical discovery sessions, requirements workshops, and solution design reviews
Support leasing and business development teams by validating technical feasibility, capacity availability, and delivery timelines
Develop technical proposals, infrastructure configurations, and deployment strategies for customer solutions
Perform capacity planning, load modeling, and infrastructure assessments to support customer deployments
Support negotiation of technical scope, SLAs, and delivery commitments within lease and customer agreements
Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers throughout the project lifecycle
Deployment & Project Delivery
Lead technical delivery of data center deployments from design through commissioning and customer handover
Coordinate with development, engineering, and construction teams to ensure customer requirements are executed
Review and validate infrastructure design including power, cooling, redundancy, and resiliency strategies
Support commissioning, testing, and operational readiness processes
Identify and resolve technical issues and project risks throughout execution
Operations & Performance Integration
Partner with facility management and technical operations teams to ensure operational readiness and service delivery
Support transition from construction to steady-state operations and ongoing customer support
Establish operational standards, performance metrics, and reliability targets
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime, efficiency, and customer experience
Investment & Development Support
Provide technical diligence for new data center investments and development opportunities
Evaluate site feasibility including power availability, infrastructure capacity, and deployment constraints
Support development planning, infrastructure strategy, and capital budgeting
Provide technical input for underwriting, investment committee materials, and project strategy
Desired Competency, Experience and Skills:
15+ years of experience in data center infrastructure, solutions engineering, technical delivery, or related field
Deep understanding of data center systems including power distribution, cooling systems, redundancy architectures, and network infrastructure
Experience supporting hyperscale, cloud, AI, or enterprise deployments preferred
Strong knowledge of the data center development and deployment lifecycle from site selection through operations
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, construction, and operations teams
Ability to translate complex technical requirements into scalable and commercially viable solutions
Strong customer engagement, communication, and technical presentation skills
Knowledge of industry standards including Uptime Tier, ASHRAE, and reliability frameworks preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
Pay Range
$160,000 - $170,000 USD
