Key Responsibilities:Curriculum & Instruction
- Plan and deliver engaging, standardsaligned lessons in U.S. History, World History, Civics, and related subjects for high school students
- Incorporate primary source analysis, current events, debate, and research projects to foster inquiry and historical thinking
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs
- Integrate literacy, technology, and interdisciplinary learning into the curriculum
- Establish and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and academically focused classroom environment
- Promote classroom discussion, civic dialogue, and responsible digital citizenship
- Implement schoolwide behavior policies and contribute to a positive school culture
- Support socialemotional learning and student development
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction
- Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and assessments
- Maintain accurate and uptodate grading and attendance records
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, student support, and interdisciplinary projects
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development sessions, parentteacher conferences, and school events
- Engage in ongoing selfreflection and pursue opportunities for professional growth
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Secondary Social Studies (Grades 712)
- Prior teaching experience at the high school level preferred
- Strong classroom management skills and commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy
- Passion for developing students’ academic skills and civic understanding
- Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination
