Description
Assist special education teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom, ensuring the continuance of the education program developed by the teacher.
Assists with planning and implementing individual and group strategies for students as so defined by student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Works closely with teacher as a member of the educational team to continually modify program for each student.
This is the only Teacher Assistant in this classroom, therefore responsible for supporting all students in the classroom. Please be aware that all students in the classroom are in wheelchairs and will be assisting with lifting students.

Qualifications
"Qualified" means having an associate's degree or higher; or having completed 2 years of post-secondary study; or meeting a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a state or local assessment (CAPE test or Certificate of Competency).
All paraprofessionals must also complete twenty (20) hours of professional development related to their assignment each school year in order to continue employment.

Terms of Employment
Full - time, 7-hour day, 188 days per year; follows traditional 10-month school year schedule.
Salary
ESPA, TA/PCA pay scale, minimum $14.15hour, plus comprehensive benefits package.
