What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yorktown Ambassador position at Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12- Special Projects?
Description
Provides consistent oversight of the Yorktown Waterfront area in addition to providing quality customer service to visitors and residents. Assists visitors and residents with questions and/or concerns; provides marketing materials, brochures, maps, directions, and information on the free trolley service. Anticipates the needs of the visitors and residents; responds quickly and professionally to all requests or inquiries. Provides basic administrative services at the Yorktown Welcome Center to include but not limited to answering phones, responding to emails, collecting visitor data, restocking of marketing materials, and monitors and conveys office supply levels and needs. Conducts routine inspections to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance needs of the welcome center and facilities are being met; reports custodial and maintenance issues to appropriate staff members. Interacts with Historic Yorktown businesses to gather feedback on any pertinent issues and communicates those needs to the appropriate departments or divisions within the County. May assist with the set-up and takedown of various events as needed.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays to support year-round events in Yorktown.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with some experience assisting the public; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. General knowledge of colonial history and events desired.
Must have the ability to provide quality customer service and exercise considerable tact and courtesy when interacting with local businesses, vendors, contractors, and the general public.
General knowledge of the historic Yorktown area streets and building locations, and the ability to provide directions to major points of interest desired.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with a satisfactory driving record.
Requires an acceptable criminal background check.
Supplemental Information
Work is performed mostly outdoors and under varying weather conditions.
Physical Demands
Must be able to operate a utility vehicle, be able to stand for long periods of time, and walk from one work area to another. May require lifting up to 50 lbs. and carrying of equipment from a variety of work areas to another.
