Culinary Arts & Catering Assistant (part time)

Lincoln Public Schools is seeking a part-time Culinary Arts & Catering Assistant to provide support in the high school culinary laboratory and assist in leading student-run catering operations for school and district events. This role bridges classroom instruction and real-world hospitality execution, ensuring food safety compliance while mentoring high school students in culinary techniques, event setup, and professional service. This position is part time and is capped at a maximum of 18 hours per week. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1.Catering Operations & Event Execution: Assist in planning, prepping, executing, and breaking down food service for district banquets, board meetings, school receptions, and community functions. 2.Student Mentorship: Direct and assist high school culinary students during prep sessions and live catering events, reinforcing knife skills, line assembly, plating, and customer service. 3.Kitchen Prep & Sanitation: Supervise and participate in food prep, temperature monitoring, equipment operation, and post-event kitchen sanitation following HACCP and ServSafe standards. 4.Logistics & Inventory: Transport food, hot/cold holding equipment, and service ware to event venues across the district; maintain track of catering inventory and linen supplies. 5.Culinary Support: Help prepare ingredients (mise en place) and lab stations prior to high school culinary classes as directed by the lead instructor. 6.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Administrators or their designee TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part Time: Hours are flexible and variable depending on the school and district event calendar, capped at a maximum of 18 hours per week. Schedules may include early morning prep, after-school events, or occasional evening functions.
