- Traditional 185 work days per year
- Regular, predictable and steady hours. You are not on-call and do not work night shifts.

Essential Functions and Objectives:
The School Nurse collaborates with other school and health care staff to maintain a safe and healthy environment and promote an optimal level of wellness to enhance the educational process of students.
- Performs screenings for vision, hearing, height and weight, and/or other conditions and make referrals and follow-up.
- Ensures the accuracy, completeness, confidentiality and security of all student health information according to FERPA.
- Completes, updates and maintains student records (accident reports, health records) using District software system.
- Collaborates with healthcare providers, parents and school personnel to identify, develop and implement applicable plans that mitigate health-related barriers to learning.
- Assists in the development and enforcement of policy to provide a safe school environment and participates as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Administer emergency first aid, CPR and AED to students and staff in accordance with established protocols.
- Provide training, delegation according to the Nurse Practice Act, and supervision of staff in providing healthcare including, but not limited to standard precautions, infectious disease guidelines, medication administration, diabetes care, and seizure disorders.
- Decision Making: An example of a typical decision made by an individual in this position is to interpret policies/procedures and best practice. An incorrect decision made by this position could impact the district legally causing the financial condition of the district to be affected. Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage the credibility of the District.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:
- Must be licensed as Licensed Practical Nurse by the State of Nebraska with 3-5 years of pediatric care experience preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft and Google.
- Attend all required meetings, trainings, and professional development as directed by the district supervisor. Keep abreast of best practices and develop and maintain the necessary skills.
