The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department is looking to add a Community Services Deputy to their team to assist with their ongoing commitment to serve our community.
This position is responsible for proactively enforcing a variety of County code including Short Term Rentals and ordinance violations. This requires responding to citizen calls for service, deputy-initiated activity, handling disputes, conducting investigations, civil service, abandoned vehicles, and courtroom testimony. The work is performed in a combined work environment but primarily in a vehicle and secondarily in an office. The person in this role will have a high level of public contact under stressful situations in the community. This position is responsible for duties that do not require certification by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).
$26.24 - $35.28 per hour*
Respond to citizen complaints about violations and works with citizens to resolve complaints.
Perform Field Investigations And Inspections To Ascertain Whether Land Use, Nuisance Abatement, Building Inspection, Engineering, Noise, Noxious Vegetation, Or Other Ordinances Are Being Violated
High School Diploma / GED
Desirable Education: Associates Degree
Experience
One year experience involving land use regulations and intensive public contact is desirable.
LICENSE
Oregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire.

Respond to citizen complaints about violations and works with citizens to resolve complaints.
Perform Field Investigations And Inspections To Ascertain Whether Land Use, Nuisance Abatement, Building Inspection, Engineering, Noise, Noxious Vegetation, Or Other Ordinances Are Being Violated
- Meet with alleged violators of ordinances and attempts to achieve compliance.
- Undertake enforcement actions in accordance with law and County ordinances.
- Facilitate removal of abandoned vehicles from county roadways in compliance with state law.
- Building and planning records (current and archived).
- Assessor records (including deeds and property assessment records). DMV records (for vehicle records and registrations and vehicle dealer’s information).
- Previous enforcement actions and case file information.
- Internet, or any other agency documentation pertinent to the enforcement complaint.
- Use all compiled documentation to formulate a complete violation history to ensure that all existing complaints are documented and brought into compliance.
- Prepare evidence in support of legal actions taken by the county; appears in court as necessary; appears and testifies at hearings and in court or administrative proceedings as required.
- Perform civil service of court paperwork as directed.

Knowledge Of
- Lincoln County codes and ordinances.
- Laws relating to civil process.
- Laws related to abandoned vehicles.
- Be trained and certified to handle and use Conducted Energy Device (Taser) in a safe manner.
- Investigate, prepare, and preserve evidence and report records.
- Interact with others and make fast and accurate judgment calls when necessary.
- Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the county, using language and a format the audience will best understand.
- Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).
- Effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the county. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and working to maintain constructive working relationships.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Show up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies, and procedures. Meet productivity standards, deadlines, and work schedules.
