What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Supervisor position at Lincoln County, NC?
Brief Job Summary
This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day animal related functions of the Lincoln County Animal Services Shelter. This position acts as a working supervisor to perform daily animal care; including but not limited to cleaning, feeding and enrichment. Job Responsibilities
~ Oversees daily animal care and ensures staff adherence to shelter rules, applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
~ Ensures that enrichment is provided and documented for long stay animals in accordance to North Carolina Department of Agriculture guideline.
~ Coordinates, prioritizes, and assigns daily work duties; monitors status of work in progress and completes follow-up on completed work.
~ Oversees the shelter feeding program and submits required data.
~ Assists with determining which animals are candidates for adoption, rescue placement, foster placement, or euthanasia.
~ Inspects all animal care areas and equipment for needed repairs and maintenance.
~ Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
~ Creates and implements standard operating procedures that reflect industry best practices.
~ Monitors inventory and ordering of animal care supplies, food and equipment.
~ Monitors spending to ensure compliance with allotted budgeted amounts; assists with budget planning as needed.
~ Performs and assists with euthanasia as needed
~ Performs the full range of animal care duties.
~ Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
~ Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years" of experience or service.
~ Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver"s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
~ Possession or ability to readily obtain Rabies Vaccinator certification and Certified Euthanasia Technician status within 6 months.
