EMERGENCY SHELTER ADVOCATE

Includes nights, days, weekdays and weekends dependent on preferred schedule available.

Amy’s House is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to providing trauma-informed advocacy, support services, and community resources to individuals and families impacted by crisis, violence, and trauma. We are committed to ethical service delivery, survivor empowerment, and compliance with grant-funded program standards.
Amy’s House is seeking a compassionate and professional Advocate to provide survivor-centered advocacy, crisis intervention, emotional support, and resource coordination services. The Advocate will support clients through trauma-informed and empowerment-based practices while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with organizational and grant requirements.
This is a contract position compensated at $15.00 per hour. Continued engagement is contingent upon satisfactory job performance, adherence to agency policies, professionalism, and organizational needs.
- Provide direct advocacy and crisis support services
- Handle crisis calls for emergency shelter and assist with resource navigation
- Maintain accurate and confidential client documentation
- Assist with client intake and discharge
- Maintain facility safety and cleanliness standards
- Actively work with survivors daily as a emotional resource and personal guidance link between case managers.
- Participate in outreach and prevention activities as assigned
- Maintain compliance with confidentiality standards, ethical practices, and grant requirements
- Collaborate professionally with staff
- Participate in required trainings and meetings
- Assist with maintenance and organization of incoming and outgoing donations.
- Reconciliation of inventory products
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in advocacy, human services, victim services, behavioral health, or related field preferred
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Experience working in domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, homelessness, or crisis response services
- Knowledge of community resources and support systems
- Relevant advocacy or victim service training preferred
