What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech position at LINCOLN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL AND NURSING HOME?
PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Technician will provide day to day maintenance duties at Lincoln Community Hospital and offsite Clinics to ensure a safe, functioning and pleasant environment for patients and staff.
DIMENSIONS:
The Maintenance Technician will work independently at the Lincoln Community Hospital and all outlying clinics and properties yet work closely with and report directly to the Maintenance Director.
ENVIRONMENT:
Lincoln Community Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital located in Hugo, Colorado. LCH also operates offsite Clinics in Byers Colorado, Flagler Colorado and Limon Colorado.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Requires a thorough knowledge of general building maintenance such as:
• Plumbing - Sweat/solder pipe, toilet flush valves, faucets, disposals, shut-off valves, snake drains, showers, toilets, etc.
• Electrical - Change lights, outlets, fixtures, and ballasts
• HVAC/Boilers – Circulating pumps, zone valves, window A/C units, thermostats.
• Drywall - Patch, replace, mud, and match texture.
• Assemble furniture and equipment.
• Paints rooms and touch-ups..
• General groundskeeping; Snow removal, lawn care and property clean-up are essential functions of this position.
• Perform assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Complete maintenance and repair records as required.
• Knowledge of and use of hand tools, power tools, skid steer loader, pickup mounted snow plow, lawn equipment, carpet cleaners, and other housekeeping and maintenance equipment.
• Basic repairs of household appliances and mobility devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, exam tables, beds, etc.
• In collaboration with department supervisor performs required fire alarm tests.
• Communicates with supervisor when complex repairs and maintenance requests require an outside contractor.
• Completes documentation in an accurate, complete, and timely manner per organizational standards.
AHERENCE TO FACILITY PROCEDURES:
• Facility procedure manuals or reference materials are utilized as needed.
• Procedures are performed according to method outlined in procedure manual.
• Safety guidelines established by the facility are followed.

• Awareness of own limitations is evident and assistance is sought when necessary.
• Dress code is adhered to.
• Committee meetings (if assigned) are attended. Reports related to the committee are given during staff meetings.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Rotating on-call responsibility for emergency maintenance repairs
• Must successfully pass organization required pre-employment drug screening and background screening
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent GED. Must be knowledgeable in boilers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills and sanitation and germ control. Experienced in painting and grounds keeping. Must be in good physical condition. Must be able to lift heavy loads, climb ladders, bend and move quickly. Must possess a Colorado driver’s license with a good motor vehicle record. Must be personable when working with staff, patients, residents, doctors, visitors and vendors. Must be organized and able to work without direct supervision.
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read and interpret documents, work orders, Instructions, blueprints, policies and procedures, and manuals.
• 3-4 years of general maintenance experience, preferably in a health care facility.

HOURS AND DAYS:
Hours and days worked are generally forty (40) hours Monday through Friday. Must be available to be on call every other week. However, situations often warrant staying with a job until completed.
ATTIRE:
Clean and neat slacks or blue jeans are required. Closed toed shoes or boots must be worn. Hair and beard must be neatly trimmed and clean.
