The Director of Development is a full-time, on-site role based in Lincoln, NE. This leadership position focuses on developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising and donor engagement strategies. Responsibilities include building and managing initiatives for planned giving, annual giving, and other philanthropic efforts. Day-to-day tasks involve overseeing fundraising campaigns, creating budgets, identifying prospective donors, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and leading a team of development professionals to achieve organizational goals. Collaboration with various teams to support the Zoo’s mission and long-term development is a key focus of the role.
Qualifications
- Experience in high level Capital Campaigns, Planned Giving, Annual Giving, and other facets of philanthropic fundraising
- Proficiency in developing and managing budgets related to fundraising strategies
- Proven expertise in building and executing successful fundraising campaigns
- Strong leadership and team management skills to guide and support a development team
- Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to engage with donors and key stakeholders to secure major gifts
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising or philanthropy is strongly preferred
