Secondary ELA Teacher Job Description
-26-27 Academic Year-
Overview:
Lincoln Academy is looking for a certified teacher to provide English Language Arts instruction in the 7-9 setting. This position reports directly to the Secondary Principal. Compensation is commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
Specific Duties Include:
- Instructing students in the Utah Core Standards for English Language Arts
- Managing a homeroom group of students
- Participating with PLCs to construct and analyze data from common formative assessments
- Using flexible grouping to implement Tier 2 Intervention Strategies in the classroom
- Maintaining curriculum delivery through CANVAS platform
- Managing student data through school selected SIS
- Ability to use and instruct through various technology platforms
- Recording and reporting student achievement progress and data to students and parents on a routine and regular basis
- Attending twice yearly parent teacher conferences
- Attending and working collaboratively with regular PLC
- Participating in standards-based grading model
- Implementing and reporting progress on all IEP, 504, and MTSS plans as written
- Maintaining clear and consistent classroom management processes
- Enforcing all school adopted policies and procedures
- Maintaining active state licensure
- Actively participating in committee assignments
- Cooperatively integrating TA into classroom structure
- Maintaining active communication with parents
- Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Secondary Education certification preferred)
- Experience working with secondary students preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work with students in physical settings
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
Salary: Depends on certification and experience
Qualifications:Required Skills/Education
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or related field
- Certified Teacher in the State of Utah, or able to obtain certification
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills

- Proficient using MacBooks and associated software/apps
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Ability to write and monitor IEP goals
- Ability to differentiate instruction for differing ability levels
- Integrity in keeping confidentiality regarding student data and information
Technology Skills
- Proficient in using MacBooks and associated software/applications
- Experienced with Canvas for instructional and communication purposes
- Skilled in the Google Suite, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, and related tools
- Comfortable adopting and learning new digital platforms as needed
