Role Description
We are seeking a Commercial Insurance Agent for a full-time, on-site role in Birmingham, MI. The primary responsibilities of this role include building strong client relationships, providing tailored insurance solutions, and assisting with policy underwriting and renewals. The Commercial Insurance Agent will also handle customer inquiries, provide exceptional service, and identify new sales opportunities to grow the business.
What You'll Do
- Prospect, develop, and close new commercial insurance accounts across multiple industries
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through binding and onboarding
- Conduct risk assessments and present tailored coverage recommendations using appointed carriers
- Build and maintain a referral network through strategic partnerships (real estate investors, lenders, franchise operators, trade contractors)
- Meet or exceed quarterly production targets for bound premium
- Collaborate with internal support staff on applications, submissions, and renewals
What We're Looking For
- Active Michigan P&C license (required)
- 1–5 years of commercial insurance sales experience preferred; motivated newer producers will be considered
- Familiarity with BOP, GL, WC, commercial auto, and umbrella lines
- Strong prospecting skills — cold calling, networking, and digital outreach
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage your own pipeline
- Experience with agency management systems (AMS360, Applied Epic, or similar) is a plus
