A well-established New York City real estate law platform is seeking a Real Estate Litigation Attorney with hands-on Housing Court and Supreme Court experience. The practice represents sophisticated owners, developers, management companies, investors, and boards in a high volume of landlord-side disputes across New York City.
This role is well-suited for an attorney who enjoys courtroom advocacy, managing an active docket, and taking real ownership of matters rather than operating in a back-office support role.
Key responsibilities
• Draft pleadings, motions, notices, briefs, discovery, and related litigation documents
• Handle commercial and residential real estate litigation matters in Housing Court and Supreme Court
• Appear regularly in court, argue motions, and manage hearings and trials
• Represent landlords, developers, managing agents, investors, and condominium or cooperative boards
• Negotiate settlements and advise clients on litigation strategy and risk assessment
• Maintain organized case files and manage a fast-moving docket
• Contribute to client-facing initiatives, including articles, alerts, or marketing efforts as appropriate
Requirements
• JD from an accredited US law school
• Active New York Bar admission in good standing
• 2 to 5 years of real estate litigation experience
• Direct Housing Court experience required
• Supreme Court experience strongly preferred
• Trial or appellate exposure is a plus, not required
• Strong legal writing, research, and courtroom advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines efficiently
• Collaborative mindset and interest in long-term professional growth
• Portable business is welcome but not expected
Compensation
Estimated base salary $150,000- $260,000, commensurate with experience and skill set. Discretionary bonus potential available.
