Overview
We are seeking to expand our patients' access to a multidisciplinary team and offer a broader scope of practitioners. We need a dedicated, and skilled PRN Contract Occupational Therapist to join our team. As our physicians become more educated on the role of OT and see the improved quality of care, we anticipate the need for visits increasing. This role is ideal for a compassionate, motivated, ambitious professional who is committed to enhancing the quality of life for patients through tailored therapeutic interventions. The Occupational Therapist will work acute care closely working with physicians, nurses, PTs, and case managers for coordinated patient care. This position requires flexibility and a strong ability to adapt to diverse patient needs.
Duties
- Assess and evaluate patients' physical and cognitive abilities to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to promote independence and improve functional capabilities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive discharge planning and case management.
- Implement therapeutic interventions for individuals with disabilities, including those with autism and geriatric populations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care plans, progress notes, and treatment outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on strategies for effective rehabilitation and ongoing care.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and occupational health in treatment approaches.
- Offer support in inpatient settings, including post op orthopedic experience when necessary, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Experience
Candidates should possess a strong background in occupational therapy with experience in the following areas considered advantageous:
- Working with individuals across the lifespan, including geriatrics and bariatrics.
- Skilled nursing facility experience or post-acute care experience.
- Inpatient or acute care adult experience
- Knowledge of case management principles and care plan development.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary team approach
- Experience in acute care environments is preferred but not mandatory.
