What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Body Repair Technician position at Limerick Auto Body Inc.?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Repair damaged passenger cars, SUV's and light duty trucks. Align and/or replace cosmetic, structural or mechanical parts damaged in collisions.
- Repair and/or replace doors, panels, bumpers, fenders, hoods, trim, including sheet metal, aluminum and fiberglass bodies and other related structures according to manufacturers' specifications.
- Weld parts using MIG welder, squeeze type inverted resistance welder, electric, gas and other welding equipment;
- Straighten parts into normal shape; apply fillers and featheredge, sand and smooth parts.
- Align and/or replace structural or mechanical parts damaged in accidents; repair, align and/or replace damaged frames utilizing frame straightening and repairing equipment as required.
- Remove and replace radiators, air conditioning condensers and lines, fans, fan clutches, fan belts, oil coolers, lights and wire harnesses, windshields, doors, door windows, door locks, upholstery, steering and suspension components, air bags, front/rear wheel and brake components and heating and cooling accessories.
- Remove and replace hydraulic components on vehicles; diagnose electronic components (i.e., electronic A/C/heating & cooling, air bag systems, passenger restraint systems, wiring, etc.) reading and utilizing diagnostics scanner; re assemble parts disengaged prior to the repair.
- Use a Windows based computer system and measuring software designed to measure automotive upper and lower body.
- Understanding of metals and metal thickness of materials used by manufacturers (i.e. composites, aluminum, and boron)
Summary
Wanted an "A" Grade body technician with an attention to detail and the ability to repair vehicles to pre-loss condition in terms of appearance and safety.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical knowledge and proficiency in auto body repair techniques
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal work
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and detailing
- Skills in MIG welding and fabrication preferred
- Ability to perform automotive diagnostics and auto glass installation
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Experience in auto estimating and heavy lifting
- Knowledge of auto painting and airless paint spraying techniques

Base Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
