What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Teacher/Floater position at LilyPad Learning Center, Ames Research Park?
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational activities and lesson plans
- Provide support and supervision to students with autism or special needs
- Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Assist with behavior management and implement strategies to promote positive behavior
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to assess student progress and development
- Support students in their social, emotional, and cognitive growth
- Assist with daily classroom routines, including mealtime, naptime, and toileting
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, preferably in an early childhood education or special education setting
- Knowledge of childhood development and age-appropriate teaching techniques
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies for students with autism or special needs
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children
Note: A degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred but not required.
