Empower Parent Advocate

Washington County/Tulsa

Purpose: This Parent Advocate plays a vital role in advancing Lilyfield’s mission of providing healthy families for at-risk children and youth. This hybrid position focuses primarily on serving parents in Washington County while also supporting the program in Tulsa. 
 
The Parent Advocate walks alongside parents (focusing on prenatal and early childhood), empowering them through parenting groups, individual sessions, and mentoring. By providing case management, practical resources, and encouragement, the Parent Advocate helps parents build confidence, gain knowledge, and create healthier homes. As part of a program focused on nurturing hope, this role is both relational and community-driven, fostering meaningful connections, promoting positive parenting, and equipping families to thrive. 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate parenting groups and/or individual sessions in-person or virtually. 
  2. Provide mentoring, case management, and support for parents, focusing on pregnancy and parenting education. 
  3. Create a positive, interactive, and encouraging environment for adult learning. 
  4. Maintain inventory and distribute tangible items for clients attending groups or individual sessions. 
  5. Collect participant data, enter and track data accurately, and maintain case files. 
  6. Recruit participants through strong relationships with community resources and outreach efforts. 
  7. Identify community needs and collaborate with team members to develop responsive solutions. 
  8. Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local agencies, schools, faith-based organizations, and service providers. 
  9. Partner with other service providers (foster care workers, counselors, teachers, etc.) to coordinate case management. 
  10. Support the broader Empower Parents Program by facilitating or assisting with other groups as needed. 
  11. Contribute to agency marketing and PR activities to increase awareness of services. 
  12. Travel throughout Washington County and surrounding areas to meet with families. 
  13. Ensure compliance with Choosing Childbirth contract requirements, including billing and service documentation. 
  14. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the mission and growth of the program. 

Wage Classification:

Salaried

Financial Justification for the Position:

The position works directly with the services provided and billed to the Choosing Childbirth contract. There are sufficient funds for this position from charitable giving, grant funding, and Choosing Childbirth contract funding.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., some evenings and weekends for client visits or program coordination.

Reporting:

This position reports to the Parent Program Manager

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s level degree in social work, psychology or a human services related area of study; or a high school diploma with two years of work experience and/or with lived experience in the community we are serving.

  3. Knowledge of resources available to families in Oklahoma.  
  4. Effective group facilitation and individual mentoring skills.

  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.  
  7. Computer proficiency for scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting.  
  8. Willingness to abide by all Lilyfield policies, including OP406 Code of Ethical and Christian Conduct and OP412 Faith Engagement.  
  9. Must meet licensing standards, including criminal background check.  
  10. Physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks (e.g., sitting on the floor, bending, engaging at ground level with children).  
  11. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and access to safe, reliable personal transportation required. 
  12. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Experience:

At least three years of work experience with children and families or three years of work experience in any field along with relevant lived experience in the community we are serving.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit on the floor, bend and be at ground level with families and children.
