What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Photography Assistant position at Lily McGregor Photography?
Lily McGregor Photography is seeking a photography assistants for our upcoming portrait season (June - late October)! Photography assistants will provide active support for photographers and act as a customer service contact for clients during their sessions. This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in photography to have some hands-on experience.
Photography assistant shifts are available Monday-Friday (7:30am-1pm or 2:45pm-8:15pm) and also Saturdays (7:30am-1pm). Applicants must be available on Saturdays to be considered.
Photography assistants will gain knowledge and practice in the following skill sets:
- Detection of details within portrait preparation
- Operation of equipment (i.e. camera bodies, lenses, lighting)
- Environmental light management (i.e. scrimming, external lighting)
- Customer interactions
- Observance of / participation in sessions -> greater understanding of portraiture
IMPORTANT NOTE: Applicants that are 16 years and older must have reliable transportation and provide personal and/or professional references upon application.
Potential candidates will need to have the following characteristics:
- At least one (1) year of general employment experience
- Understanding of the value of teamwork
- Open-mindedness and flexibility
- Outgoing, friendly demeanor
- Proactive work habits
- Ability to work outside in summer weather
- Interest in the photography process (especially portraits) would be a bonus
Responsibilities
- Assist photographers in setting up equipment and lighting for sessions
- Maintain the studio area before, during, and after sessions
- Assist the client in preparing for formal portraits, as well as cap & gown portraits
- Make clients feel welcome and attended during their sessions

Pay: From $13.00 per hour
