Security Guard Job Overview:
The Security Guard is responsible for the safety and security of guests and employees, their property, and the property of the hotel. This includes supporting other department's activities to help assure the highest levels of guest and employee service.
Primary Responsibilities:
Be responsible for the safety and security of the entire property and everyone in it.
Seek out and respond to security problems, issues, concerns, and emergency situations to protect the assets and ensure the safety and security of guests and associates.
Respond without hesitation to emergency alarms and calls for help, determine course of action, and notify appropriate authorities when warranted.
Patrol property areas, including parking lots, noting unusual circumstances or security concerns, and taking appropriate action.
This requires the security guard to be on his/her feet for 10 hours per shift.
Keeping any vagrant people out of the hotel and sent about their way.
Helping front desk agents handle any aggressive customers.
Control any violent or belligerent situation in the hotel.
Complete various security reports and forms for investigation, action and liability abatement, documenting loss or personal injury of guests or associates.
Qualifications:
At least one year Security or Police (military or civilian) experience, preferably with exposure to the hotel environment.
Have excellent customer service skills.
Ability to listen effectively, speak, read and write English clearly or ascertain and document important information.
Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift.
Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry otherwise move moderate amount of weight.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a hotel environment, the majority of the work is performed in guest rooms and public space areas. Requires the use of cleaning tools and equipment, cleaning chemicals and manual labor to deliver clean and ready rooms.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Constant physical movement is involved in performing Security Guard duties and tasks.
Mental Demands:
The mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must have mental alertness and be able to comprehend written daily room assignments. Ability to determine when a room meets the cleanliness requirement of the hotel.
Required Education & Experience:
High School education or GED.
One or more years in Security.
