AAU Varsity / Junior Varsity Basketball Coach

Like Mike Sports is actively seeking an eager, motivated candidate to fulfill the AAU Varsity/Junior Varsity Basketball Head Coach position at our location in Cypress, TX. This position would primarily be responsible for coaching teams and leading basketball skill development for youth aged 15-17 (9th-12th Grade) that play on our AAU Varsity/Junior Varsity teams. An ideal candidate for this position will have experience in both individual player and team development at the 15U-17U level, conduct practices in compliance with program standards, motivate and instruct player-athletes in game strategies, techniques, and sportsmanship. An ideal candidate for this position will also have experience developing and connecting players to the collegiate level (DI, DII, DIII, etc.) while also possessing excellent communication and organizational skills to maximize player and team development during training, practice, and game time.

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as Basketball Head Coach for AAU Varsity & Junior Varsity teams
• Develop practice plans based on previous practice and game play then execute practice plans during scheduled times
• Create training plan for both individual and teams to support conditioning requirements of program
• Devise game plans based on team skill set and opponent tendencies with a willingness and knowledge base to adjust as necessary during actual game play
• Possess a commanding court presence to ensure players and teams stay focused and on-track during training, practice, and game time
• Serve as a motivational leader to teenage youth for both basketball and life guidance
• Set a good example of leadership to follow for players and parents involved with the program
• Ensure Player and Parent Code of Conduct is followed in accordance with program standards
• Travel required to support AAU Tournaments primarily within the state of Texas

Experience / Qualifications:

• High School degree or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years serving as a Head Basketball Coach of 14U-16U AAU teams
• Experience as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach at the High School or College levels will be considered
• Experience as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach at the Collegiate level (NCAA / NAIA / JUCO) is a plus

Work Schedule:

• Work hours per week will range from 5-20 hrs. depending on practice and game schedule assignment along with time of year
• Must be able to support coaching these AAU Club teams for practices on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (times vary depending on time of year)
• Must be able to support tournament schedules which involve travel across the state of Texas
