Network Engineer
LigTel Communications is now hiring a Full Time Network Engineer
LigTel Communications is seeking a skilled Network Engineer with a strong emphasis on fiber access, IP, and voice network infrastructure. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working across data and voice networks in a service provider environment. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance for mission-critical applications. Familiarity with leading equipment vendors such as Cisco and Calix is essential to support our diverse multi-vendor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the Calix fiber distribution platform, including troubleshooting, deploying new network nodes, performing system upgrades, and managing associated servers.
- Provide technical support for residential and business subscribers, including data transport, Wi-Fi, IP connectivity, and SIP-based voice services.
- Configure and troubleshoot business and residential internet services.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting of SIP signaling, RTP media flows, and call routing issues.
- Diagnose and resolve network faults across access and transport layers.
- Collaborate with other service providers and vendors to implement new technologies and resolve inter-network issues.
- Follow documented instructions and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for network changes and maintenance activities.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and ensure they are completed accurately, on time, and fully documented.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Solid understanding of IP networking concepts including routing, switching, and VLANs.
- Ability to analyze SIP call flows, signaling, and media issues in an IP network environment.
- Ability to follow written technical procedures and documentation.
- Strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and follow-through.
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Calix access platforms (AXOS, E7, EXA, or similar).
- Familiarity with Wi-Fi troubleshooting and customer-premises networking.
- Experience working in an ISP, telecommunications, or service provider environment.
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CompTIA, Calix, VoIP-related certifications).
Work Environment
- Combination of office, network operations, and occasional field work.
- May include scheduled maintenance windows or participation in an on-call rotation.
