About Us:
For over 15 years, Lightweight Manufacturing and Lightweight Design has been at the forefront of the tensioned fabric manufacturing industry. We specialize in the manufacturing of custom fabric paneling for architecture and tent rentals using Radio Frequency (RF) welding of plastic-coated industrial fabrics. We are seeking to reinforce our team with a CAD Drafter II or higher to provide Designs and Drawings for tensioned fabric structures.
We offer training in this highly specialized field of design/drafting. We are a small team that plays a leadership role in its field based on the combined experience of its team. Seaman Integrated Solutions dba Lightweight Design provides engineering & design services for fabric structures that are fee-based, and creates fabric panels via a specialized fabric cutting, welding, and finishing Shop. Most projects are unique custom-designs.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to create design drawings for metal frames and tensioned fabric structures, produce shop drawings for fabric panels, and develop cutting patterns for computer-controlled equipment. This role includes preparing project documentation, and collaborating with structural engineers and customers to finalize designs. The position also involves managing drafting projects with minimal supervision, supporting manufacturing teams and vendors, tracking project time for billing and costing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create design drawings for new projects showing metal frames & tensioned fabric
- Produce shop drawings for the fabric panels
- Design cutting patterns for computer cutting equipment
- Generate bill of materials and drawings for metal parts as needed
- Produce project documents including inspection sheets
- Interact with structural engineers and customers to finalize the design
- Oversee the project management of drafting/drawing projects with minimal oversight of project supervisor
- Provide support to the manufacturing groups or outside vendors when questions arise
- Track time for projects for billing and internal job costing
- Learn new concepts/structures/materials and share knowledge gained with the team.
- This position involves travel on a monthly basis (approx). 25%
Required:
- Associates Degree or relevant experience in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
- AutoCAD experience is a MUST HAVE for this position
- Great communication skills to coordinate with other project supervisor(s)
- Interest in learning about all aspects of fabric structures: materials, design, manufacturing processes, and installation aspects
- Eligible to work in the United States (We are an E-Verify participant)
Experience with 3D drafting software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Rhino is preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
