About the RoleLightsource bp is seeking an Asset Manager or Senior Asset Manager to support and optimize the performance of our utility scale solar portfolio. The level will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
This role is responsible for maximizing the financial and operational performance of operating assets while serving as a key coordination point across internal teams, investors, service providers, and external stakeholders. The position combines financial oversight, commercial management, and technical operations to ensure projects operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management- Manage financial performance across an assigned portfolio of solar assets including revenue tracking, budgeting, and variance analysis
- Monitor project liquidity, debt compliance, and reserve requirements
- Support tax equity investor reporting, flip model tracking, and sponsor equity distributions
- Prepare financial reporting for internal leadership, investors, and lenders
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and investor reporting alongside finance and legal teams
- Review invoices and monitor expenses to ensure alignment with project budgets
- Serve as the primary contact for external stakeholders including offtakers, utilities, and service providers
- Monitor compliance with key project agreements including PPAs, O&M agreements, land leases, and interconnection agreements
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities for value optimization across the portfolio
- Support contract negotiations, amendments, and renewals in collaboration with legal and leadership teams
- Manage warranty claims, equipment performance guarantees, and contractor performance issues
- Oversee day to day operational performance of utility scale solar assets
- Work with O&M providers to monitor plant performance and improve operational KPIs
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for performance issues or outages
- Support project commissioning and transition from construction to operations
- Coordinate inspections, compliance activities, and asset performance reviews
- Partner closely with development, engineering, finance, legal, and compliance teams
- Maintain organized asset documentation and reporting aligned with internal controls and stakeholder requirements
- Support strategic initiatives including refinancing, acquisitions, and tax equity structuring
- Represent Lightsource bp in partner meetings and cross functional initiatives as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or Business Administration
- Manager level: approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in asset management, project operations, or renewable energy project management
- Senior Manager level: typically 5 or more years of experience with demonstrated ownership of renewable asset portfolios
- Experience within a renewable energy developer, IPP, or infrastructure investor preferred
- Understanding of utility scale solar PV systems, plant operations, and performance analysis
- Experience managing financial performance of energy assets, including budgeting, P&L oversight, and cash flow forecasting
- Familiarity with key project agreements such as PPAs, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and interconnection agreements
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Base salary: $130,000 to $170,000 depending on experience and level
- Annual bonus target: 15-20%
