About the Role:
The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position focuses on implementing treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in various behavioral health settings. The technician is responsible for crisis intervention and management, helping to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support during episodes of emotional or behavioral distress. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate and thorough clinical documentation to support continuity of care and discharge planning. Ultimately, the Behavioral Health Technician contributes to improving patient outcomes by fostering a therapeutic environment and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Certification or training in behavioral health, mental health, or a related discipline.
- Experience in clinical documentation and patient care within a behavioral health setting.
- Knowledge of crisis management and intervention techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with children or adults with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED).
- Training or certification in CPR and first aid.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting clinical assessments and monitoring patient behavior to inform treatment plans.
- Provide direct patient care, including support with daily living activities and therapeutic interventions.
- Implement crisis intervention techniques to manage and de-escalate behavioral emergencies effectively.
- Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes and incident reports.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized discharge plans.
- Support patients with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) by applying specialized care strategies.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients by adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
