Senior Tax Manager

Lightner & Stickel CPAs is growing and seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our team in Troy, Ohio.
This role is ideal for an experienced CPA who enjoys serving as a trusted advisor to business owners, managing client relationships, and providing high-level tax and accounting guidance. Our goal is to add a senior-level professional who can gradually assume ownership of key client relationships while helping support the continued growth of the firm.
What You'll Do
- Manage and review individual, business, partnership, and S-Corporation tax engagements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for business clients.
- Review tax outcomes, explain year-over-year variances, identify planning opportunities, and communicate recommendations to clients.
- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns.
- Provide CFO/Controller-level remote support and guidance for clients.
- Perform tax planning, research, and analysis.
- Complete financial statement compilation and review engagements.
- Review staff work for technical accuracy and completeness.
- Support clients with accounting and financial reporting needs throughout the year.
- Gradually assume ownership of key client relationships and help reduce partner workload.
- Balance client service expectations and deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality and responsiveness.
What We're Looking For
- Active CPA license or EA credential required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
- 8 years of public accounting experience.
- Strong business tax experience, including S-Corporations and Partnerships.
- Experience reviewing and preferably signing tax returns.
- Ability to independently manage client relationships and communicate directly with business owners.
- Experience with QuickBooks and professional tax software (UltraTax experience is a plus).
- Trust and Estate tax return preparation experience preferred but not required.
- Financial statement review and compilation experience preferred.
- A collaborative, client-focused approach and the ability to thrive in a small-firm environment.

Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Troy, as regular in-office collaboration is expected.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
