What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Lighting Supply?
Lighting Supply is seeking a productive and professional Accounting Clerk to support our internal team and external customers with all accounting efforts. Our customers include electrical contractors, property/maintenance managers, commercial businesses and homeowners.
The position is full-time in our Ferndale, MI office. Schedule TBD Monday-Friday between the hours of 7am and 5pm. The company provides training on systems and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Enter daily ACH/EDI, lockbox and check receipts.
- Handles processing return credits, refund checks and pricing discrepancies.
- Ensures the accurate and timely processing of daily transactions.
- Research invoices and payments, reply to inquiries and schedule payments.
- Maintaining the organization's booking keeping process.
- Performs collection calls as needed.
- Monitors assigned email mailboxes.
- Proofread/edit correspondence utilizing excellent writing and grammar skills.
- Communicate with customers and sales representatives daily.
- Uploads invoices and manages accounts for customers requiring portal invoicing.
- Handles credit reference checks as required.
- Manages account clean up and reconciliations when needed.
- Charges and refunds credit cards.
- Files and manages tax-exempt forms for customer accounts.
- Great attitude with the ability to work professionally with other team members/departments and customers.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Demonstrated accounting experience and/or courses.
- Strong work ethic, dependability and integrity.
- Positive attitude, self-driven, always improving and willingness to learn.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online a plus.
- Associate Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- 3 years of AR experience.
- Proven working experience as accounts receivable clerk, accounts receivable manager, and collector preferred.
- Solid understanding of fair credit practices and collection regulations preferred.
- Data entry skills.
- Verbal communication.
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an office setting and is required to work primarily seated at a desk for extended periods of time, utilizing a computer, and a phone with a headset to communicate with customers. Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
