Job Overview
Lighthouse Treatment, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Admissions Specialist to support the admissions process across our full continuum of care, including detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient services.
This role is responsible for managing the admissions process from initial inquiry through scheduled admission by responding to prospective clients and referral sources, collecting and verifying required information, coordinating with clinical and medical teams, and ensuring a timely and supportive experience.
The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and able to handle sensitive situations with empathy while maintaining strong attention to detail and compliance standards.
What You’ll Do
- Respond to inbound calls, web inquiries, and referral requests in a timely and professional manner
- Collect preliminary client information and explain program services, expectations, and next steps
- Coordinate screenings, assessments, and admission logistics with clinical and medical teams
- Communicate admission requirements, arrival instructions, and scheduling details to clients and families
- Collect and review pre-admission documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Enter and maintain client information in internal systems (CRM/EMR)
- Support insurance verification and authorization processes by gathering required information
- Maintain accurate logs and track admission activity
- Provide compassionate communication to clients, families, and referral sources
- Coordinate transportation and arrival logistics when applicable
- Collaborate with admissions, clinical, and medical teams to ensure smooth client transitions
- Identify and escalate barriers, delays, or high-risk situations as needed
- Support outreach and follow-up efforts to assist with census growth
- Ensure all activities comply with HIPAA and applicable regulatory requirements
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in admissions, intake, customer service, or healthcare coordination preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort with electronic systems (CRM/EMR)
Preferred
- Experience in substance use disorder or behavioral health settings
- Familiarity with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referral coordination
- Knowledge of levels of care including detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient
- Familiarity with ASAM Criteria and applicable regulatory standards
Work Environment
This role is based in an office setting in Anaheim and involves frequent phone and computer use. You will regularly interact with clients, families, and referral sources and may support multiple programs or locations.
