POSITION: TITLE EXAMINER

SUMMARY

This person reviews public records; makes a determination of ownership, other interests and encumbrances of record; and communicates findings, exceptions and requirements for the transaction. This position can also involve the typing of commitments and/or policies into a computer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Makes the determination ownership, other interests and encumbrances of record.
• Reads order application for customer specifications.
• Maps/Determines the legal description to be insured.
• Checks that tax information and tax legal descriptions are accurate.
• Analyzes data, records and writes up file using appropriate codes for typing OR inputs information directly into computer.
• Types title commitments and/or policies in the Softpro Computer Systems
• Communicates with the title examiner for discrepancies.
• Proofreads the typed data.
• Prints commitment/policy and invoice along with all necessary endorsements.
• Communicates with underwriters, customers, co-workers, manager and other related institutions, when necessary, to answer questions, solve problems or follow up on problem files.
• Assures the quality and accuracy of the company products.
• Properly utilize the tracking system in Softpro.
• Fax or e-mail title commitments to the customers.
• May be required to sign title products
• Other duties as requested by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant experience preferred
• Ability to collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to identify and solve problems and to deal with both abstract and concrete variables.
• Accurate typing skills of a minimum of 50 words per minute on a computer keyboard.
• Good organizational skills.
• Beneficial to have Resident Agent's license, but not mandatory for hire. May be required to acquire after hire.

• Maintain high level of professionalism in dress and demeanor.
• Ability to work well under pressure and to remain flexible to changing schedules and demands.
• Proven organizational skills.
