Job Summary: Our private free standing Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Management Ambulatory surgery center is looking for experienced and Operating Room Registered Nurses. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and patient care skills. Operating Room Staff Registered Nurse will work under the direction of the Nursing Director. Will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating both direct and indirect surgical patient care before, during and after surgery. Accepts responsibility, provides direction to others and coordinates a patient’s surgical health care plan. Provides nursing care and collaborates with peers, physicians, and other members of the surgical team to all patients, of all populations. Creates and maintains a sterile and safe surgical environment.

Responsibilities & Duties:
· Applies knowledge of evidenced based practices, AORN standards and technological advances to promote quality nursing.
· Demonstrates clinical competency, decision-making and problem-solving skills in the Operating room.
· Documents in Electronic Medical record system documentation according to policies and AORN standards of care.
· Directs and coordinates the patient care team.
· Competent to scrub on most surgical procedures.
· Functions in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment.
· Possesses in-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures.
· Functions as preceptor to new employees as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Mental Effort:
This position requires ability to push/pull/list objects more than 50 lbs., walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods; see objects close and far away; and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Employee will be frequently exposure to hazardous waste materials, blood, body tissues or fluids, radiation and anesthesia gases. Works in large well lighted rooms with varying temperatures. Ability to work flexible hours when required.
Experience & Skills:
· Current CT Registered Nurse License
· Minimum Education required: Associates Degree in Nursing
· At least 2 (two) years of operating room experience in an ambulatory or hospital setting. Experience in orthopedics preferred.
· Experience in a free-standing Ambulatory surgical setting preferred
. Leadership experience in the Operating Room charge role-desired
· Read, write and speak English
· CNOR certification desirable
· BLS required
License/Certification:
