Location: Lighthouse Mental Wellness, PLLC – South Shore
Reports To: Practice Manager

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide evidence-based psychiatric care to individuals across the lifespan (ages 7 ), incorporating medication management, brief psychotherapy, and psychosocial interventions in a comfortable outpatient private practice setting. This role requires expertise in treating a range of psychiatric conditions and contributes to innovative, holistic care approaches that prioritize patient well-being.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide Outpatient Psychiatric Services: Evaluate and assess mental health conditions, develop and adjust individualized treatment plans, respond to client messages and emergencies promptly, and order/examine laboratory or diagnostic tests for clients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders as necessary.
  • Medication Management: Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications for psychiatric diagnoses, adjusting as needed for optimal care; manage refills promptly (within 48 business hours) and complete insurance authorizations.
  • Clinical Decision-Making: Make sound, independent treatment decisions in accordance with protocols based on state and national guidelines.
  • Psychotherapy: Supplement treatment plans with psychotherapy and psychosocial interventions tailored to the individual needs of each patient.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers to coordinate care and improve treatment outcomes.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on treatment options, medication, and mental health conditions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters using an electronic health record (EHR) system; ensure accurate medical records consisting of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, outcomes, and billing entries.
  • Billing & Coding: Familiarity with common psychiatric billing codes and documentation requirements to support accurate billing practices; record all services performed in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as payor rules and regulations.

  • Clinical Skills: Familiarity with psychopharmacological treatments for a range of psychiatric diagnoses and a strong focus on evidence-based care.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to apply expert clinical judgment and problem-solving skills in patient care.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to document patient encounters, manage administrative duties, and use electronic health systems efficiently.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Holistic Approach: Interest in providing holistic care that integrates innovative treatment approaches to improve patient outcomes.
  • Facilitating Growth & Learning: Passion for educating patients and other providers about mental health, psychiatric treatments, and self-care strategies.

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program with a specialization in psychiatric care across the lifespan.

· At least 1 year of nursing experience treating children, adolescents, and adults in psychiatric settings.

· Board certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

· Current Nurse Practitioner license in Massachusetts in good standing.

· No previous history of disciplinary action on license in Massachusetts or any other state.

· DEA and MCSR credentials.

· Board authorization to practice.

· No restriction, exclusion, suspension or debarment from participation in federal health care programs.

· Experience treating patients with PANS/PANDAS preferred.

Schedule:

· Tuesday- Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
