Lighthouse Learning Microschool is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Middle School Teacher Assistant (Instructional Assistant) to join our growing team. Our innovative K–8 microschool offers small class sizes, personalized education, mastery-based learning, and hands-on experiences that allow every student to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. As a Teacher Assistant, you'll become an important part of a collaborative team dedicated to helping students succeed.

Position Overview

The Middle School Teacher Assistant provides instructional and classroom support while helping create an engaging, organized, and positive learning environment. This position works closely with the lead teacher to support student learning, classroom management, differentiated instruction, and daily school operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with classroom instruction and daily learning activities.
• Provide academic support to individual students and small groups.
• Help reinforce lessons in reading, writing, math, science, and project-based learning.
• Support differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Foster student engagement, confidence, and independence.
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Assist with classroom management and positive behavior support.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, enrichment classes, and school activities.
• Prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning centers.
• Assist with grading, organization, and student progress tracking.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to support student success.
• Perform additional duties that contribute to the success of our school community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate's degree or college coursework in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience as a Teacher Assistant, Instructional Assistant, Classroom Aide, Tutor, Paraprofessional, Childcare Professional, or working with children is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Positive, patient, and encouraging attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional educational team.
• Passion for helping middle school students grow academically and personally.
• Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Screening.
