General Supervisor / Testing Personnel – Foot & Ankle Specialty Lab (Travel / Contract Role)
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift (Clinic Hours)
Assignment Type: Travel / Temporary (13-week assignment, with potential for extension)
Position Overview
A growing foot and ankle specialty clinic in the Salt Lake City, Utah area is seeking a General Supervisor / Testing Personnel for a travel assignment supporting laboratory operations focused on wound and nail diagnostics, along with limited molecular (PCR) testing.
This is a hands-on role within a physician practice setting, combining bench work with supervisory responsibilities under CLIA guidelines. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in a moderate- to high-complexity environment and stepping into a leadership role as needed to support day-to-day lab operations.
Experience with PCR instrumentation, particularly the Applied Biosystems QuantStudio 7, is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Operations
- Perform and oversee laboratory testing, including:
- Wound and nail specimen processing and analysis
- PCR testing (setup, amplification, and basic troubleshooting)
- Maintain efficient workflow and turnaround times in a clinic-based lab environment
Supervision & Compliance
- Serve as General Supervisor in accordance with CLIA regulations
- Ensure adherence to quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory standards
- Support inspection readiness and compliance documentation
Process & Quality Support
- Assist with validation, implementation, and optimization of testing workflows
- Contribute to SOP development and updates
- Support training and competency assessment of laboratory personnel
Collaboration
- Work closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely results
- Act as a technical resource for lab-related questions and troubleshooting
Qualifications
- Meets CLIA requirements for General Supervisor (moderate/high complexity)
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
- Active ASCP (or equivalent) certification preferred
- 2 years of experience in histology and molecular testing required (4 years preferred)
Highly Preferred:
- Experience with Applied Biosystems QuantStudio platforms
- Qualification as a Technical Supervisor in:
- Histology
- Molecular (PCR) testing
Compensation & Assignment Details
- Pay Rate: $30/hour
- Per Diem: Provided in accordance with current GSA rates (eligibility based on traveler status)
- Expected weekly gross compensation with per diem: $2400/wk
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks, with strong potential for extension
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift (no weekends)
