Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – 3rd Shift
Location: Peterborough, New Hampshire
Schedule: Full-Time | 3rd Shift | Three 12-Hour Shifts per Week
About the Opportunity
Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with a respected community hospital in the Peterborough, NH area to recruit a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a full-time overnight position. This role offers an excellent work-life balance with a three 12-hour shift schedule while providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care in a collaborative hospital laboratory environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in an independent overnight setting, and is passionate about delivering accurate, timely laboratory results.
Responsibilities
- Perform moderate and high complexity laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Analyze patient specimens across multiple laboratory departments, including Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, and Microbiology as applicable
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results through quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation
- Review and verify patient results before reporting to providers
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and hospital regulatory standards
- Accurately document testing, maintenance, quality control, and corrective actions
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding laboratory results
- Assist with specimen processing and workflow management during overnight operations
- Participate in competency assessments, continuing education, and departmental quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related laboratory science field
- MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), MLT (ASCP), AMT, or equivalent certification preferred (or eligibility to obtain certification)
- Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred, though strong new graduates are encouraged to apply
- Experience working in a hospital laboratory environment is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
