Position Overview
Lighthouse Hospice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Chaplain (PRN, roughly 1 day per week) to join our interdisciplinary team based out of Eagle, Idaho. This vital role provides spiritual care and emotional support to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses, helping ensure that each individual’s journey is met with dignity, respect, and understanding—regardless of their faith tradition or spiritual background.

Key Responsibilities
- Spiritual Care: Provide spiritual assessments and counseling to patients and families, respecting their individual beliefs and traditions based on ordered frequency.
- Veterans Program Support: Assist veteran patients and their families by connecting them with appropriate resources and support, including coordination with local VA services for bereavement counseling. Provide ongoing education for the hospice care team working towards Veterans Star Rating.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in care planning meetings and collaborate with the hospice team to address the spiritual needs of patients and families, minimally every two weeks and as needed.
- Community Engagement: Liaise with local clergy and faith communities to enhance spiritual support services and recruit spiritual care volunteers.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of spiritual care provided, ensuring compliance with hospice documentation standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Pastoral care, religious studies, or related field is preferred. Master’s Degree in Divinity is ideal, but not required.
- Certification: Ordination or ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized religious organization is preferred.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in providing spiritual care in a healthcare or hospice setting is preferred.
- Bereavement Training: Completion of training in grief counseling and bereavement support services.
- Veterans Affairs Knowledge: Familiarity with VA bereavement counseling programs and eligibility criteria is preferred.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
- Licensure: Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, CPR certification.
